JAWS 17 added support for displaying MathML content in braille using the popular Nemeth Braille code. Using a refreshable braille display and with JAWS configured for Contracted Braille, the message "Math" is displayed followed by the expression. If the expression is too long to fit on the display, use the panning buttons to view the rest of it.

Notes

JAWS 17.0.2211 introduced support for rendering math on an external Braille display using Nemeth Braille (no support for UEB). In addition to new support for all of the Braille access modes, Speech-Reads, Speech-Navigation and Visual-Focus Highlighting remain available using the JAWS Math Viewer. Speech-Sound Effects is also available using JAWS' speech and sounds manager.

JAWS must be set to use contracted Braille for equations to appear on the external Braille display. If JAWS is configured for computer Braille an alert will display on the Braille display informing the user that JAWS must be set to contracted Braille to display math content.
